NADEJDA VAMES
Founder & Creative Director
“My design is not a style. It is a language of clarity, feeling, and truth.”
Design has always been my native language. I speak it through materials, proportions, systems, and silence. It is how I understand people, spaces, and the way life unfolds within them.
I was born and educated in the Republic of Moldova, where I studied Engineering and Architectural Design at the Technical University of Moldova. This dual foundation—technical rigor and spatial thinking—shaped my approach from the very beginning. I was never interested in decoration alone; I was drawn to structure, logic, and how design decisions influence human behavior, emotion, and well-being.
During my final year of studies, I began working as a freelance designer, exploring residential and commercial spaces, products, and concepts. In 2010, I founded Nadejda Vames Interiors SRL, leading a multidisciplinary studio that designed interiors, public environments, exhibition stands, packaging, and design concepts. Each project expanded my understanding of how systems, not styles, create meaningful spaces.
Since 2017, I have been based in the United States, working with private clients and brands internationally—particularly in New York and New Jersey. My work spans residential and commercial interiors, product and collection design with manufacturers, creative strategy, and visual storytelling. Across all disciplines, my focus has remained the same: translating complex human needs into calm, clear, functional design.
A pivotal chapter in my career began in 2018 with BOON Glass, where I designed custom architectural glass and mirrors. Working deeply with glass taught me precision, restraint, and respect for material intelligence. After extensive collaboration with kitchen manufacturers and fabricators, in 2024 I co-founded RAUM Kitchens, further strengthening my appreciation for German engineering, minimalism, and long-term thinking in kitchen architecture.
Over time, one truth became undeniable:
The kitchen is the most complex and emotionally charged system in the home—and yet the least thoughtfully designed.
Most kitchens are loud. Visually, mechanically, mentally. They prioritize trends, appliances, or storage metrics, but ignore how people actually move, think, feel, and age within the space.
This realization led me to step away from RAUM Kitchens and to establish VAMES KITCHEN ATELIER, where I developed The Silent Kitchen System™.
The Silent Kitchen System™ is a proprietary, two-layer design methodology that combines:
deep observation of daily routines and micro-movements
architectural planning and engineering logic
sensory control (sound, light, touch, visual calm)
and long-term adaptability for real life, not idealized images
Silence, in this context, is not the absence of sound. It is the absence of friction.
A silent kitchen reduces decisions, eliminates visual noise, and supports the body and mind intuitively. It works in the background, allowing life to take center stage.
VAMES KITCHEN ATELIER is not about luxury as excess. It is about precision, restraint, and intelligence. About kitchens designed as systems, not showpieces. About spaces that feel right—today, and twenty years from now.
For me, design is not what I do. It is how I move through the world—with responsibility, clarity, and care.
VAMES KITCHEN ATELIER was created as an answer to noise—visual, functional, and emotional. It is a return to intention, to intelligence, to spaces that support life without demanding attention.
The kitchen becomes calm. Movement becomes natural. Living becomes effortless.
This is the essence of my work—and the quiet philosophy behind every VAMES kitchen.
